Basalte de Coiron Syrah Les Vignerons Ardêchois 2018| IGP Ardêches| Frankrijk

Mooie rode Syrah wijn uit de Terroirs d'Ardêche. In de neus merk je zwart en rood fruit, kruidige tonen, nootmuskaat, peper. Een stevige aanzet, sappig en vlezig mondgevoel met aanwezige doch gebalanceerde tannines en een verrassend droge finish.

Te serveren bij bijvoorbeeld 'canard à l'orange' of bij een mooi stuk gegrild rood vlees, of bij harde kazen met een rijpe volle smaak.

De wijngaarden liggen tegen het Coiron massief aan, tussen de dorpjes St-Jean le Centenier en Aubignas. De basaltbodem houdt de hitte van overdag vast en geeft die 's nachts terug vrij, waardoor dit een ideale rijpingsbodem is voor de Syrah wijnranken.

Wijnmaakster Marion Bosquet is afkomstig uit de Sancerre regio, en deed ervaring op in Hunter Valley, de Loire en de Rhône regio, maar werd uiteindelijk verliefd op een wijnbouwer uit de Ardêche

Jancis Robinson is alvast fan van deze wijn en omschreef die als volgt: 'Fabulous aroma even when the wine is quite cool: pure, peppery Syrah that gives the impression it is from a cool climate though I don't think the Ardèche could be described as that. The fruit is more red-fruited than black but there's also a savoury taste of smoked bacon. Fragrant and scented but also has plenty of depth and length. More northern Rhône than southern in its floral delicacy but with the generosity, without excess weight, of a more southerly site. As the name suggests, this is volcanic soil and I do believe this has determined the very fine, dry texture of the tannins. Refined and still full of both flavour and scent on the palate. This may well age longer [I suggested up to 2023] but I find it irresistible now.'
